"I've Come to Kick Ass and Chew Bubblegum"

Roddy Piper kicks ugly alien ass in They Live, my favourite John Carpenter movie.
Roddy plays Nada, a construction worker who's struggling to find work. He hooks up with Frank, played by the great Keith David, who helps him get work, and takes him to a homeless community where they can get their heads down.
Whilst there Nada discovers a pair of sunglasses and when he puts them on he discovers that half the population of the city are super gross alien skeletors, and they've got all the best jobs.
He realises that the aliens have taken over the world, and they've been here forever, pulling the wool over our eyes and keeping us in a kind of comatose state of ignorance. The billboards all read slogans like, OBEY; MARRY AND REPRODUCE; and most chillingly of all, banknotes read, THIS IS YOUR GOD.
Roddy's not about to give his planet to a bunch of bony-faced space yuppies, so he tools up and goes on a kill-crazy rampage in a bank.
Soon after, he's on the run - funny that - and gets in with an underground movement, who are producing more sunglasses, to wake up the rest of humanity. He also gets the hots for Holly, a company babe with well scary eyes.
It's kind of like the Matrix, only better. It's an allegory for eighties greed and the 'me' generation and when I first saw it, it really made me think about the people in power and those with none. Later, I read 1984 which shattered my perception of the world forever.
See this movie if you haven't already, and if you have, let me know what you though of it.
